Hacking installing themes on sm 4.1

i usually use softmii to install themes. just a little leery of trying to install a 4.0 theme on system menu 4.1. not really sure if there were significant enough changes to effect installation. also, i hear mym is the way to go. just looking for some feedback. or if anyone has converted darkwii to 4.1 and would be willing to share info as to how they converted. i'm all ears. any help is much appreciated.

I tried to install a 4.0 theme on a 4.0 wii and still got bricked i wouldnt try it on a 4.1

If you have bootmii as boot2 and a NAND backup, do it.
I heard that if you install a 4.0 theme on 4.1, you might not be able to access wii settings.

Well, I haven't tried it yet, but from what I can tell:

* Both (default) theme files from 4.0 and 4.1 are the exact same size.
* They are identical in many parts. There's some differences though...

bleh, tried installing. install failed. but no brick. which is good news. well lol, i'm patient. i'm sure eventually a themer will come out with something new.

That's probably just the 4.1 text in the Wii settings.

I've successfully copied 0000007b.app (for NTSC) using Nickasa's FSToolBox and used a mym script with mymenu update it then installed it with the softmii installer. Also with preloader hacks and bootmii installed.

never tried till you asked and know i get a freez... haha never used that wii settings feature since i set up wifi...oh well i can reveret back when i need too. thanks for the heads up.

Making a CSM (an edited app file, essentially) from the 000001.app from the System Menu 4.1 WAD I got with NUS Downloader and a MYM file I had compatibile with 4.0 worked fine, so it seems at least some themes work. Just make sure you have a way of rolling it back (such as BootMii) just in case.

Always some exceptions to the rules. I am not semi-bricked and everything is functional. Best advice one can give.... if you're going to mess around; respect and love your nand; make a backup first!!! If necessary introduce it to it's former self and remember old times together.

Sorry to digress and yes I'm being lazy, where is Darkwii Extended theme I'd like to check it out. So many nice things are said about it. I'm using the Dark Mage theme and I forget who crafted it (sorry).

I generally don't like bumping to say thanks but thanks guys, and drats! This is for PAL not NTSC, I'll have to wait or not be so lazy

EDIT: Being patient and lazy pays off....untested (at this time) 4.1U version of Darkwii Extended is now downloadable in the previously mentioned thread above, dig it kids!
