Hacking Installing Bootstrap with a fat DS

I bought an iEdge as a gift for someone. I want to have the iEdge setup before I give it away... the problem is I don't actually own a DSi myself but I do own a fat DS.

Can I still prepare and setup the bootstrap with my fat DS, or does it have to be done on a DSi?

Yes you can do it with a fat DS. The iEdge only needs the power from the cardslot its not bound to a specific DS.
