Hacking Installing bootmii as boot2

SO i'm tring to follow the ultimate system menu 4.0 guide, as i'm trying to downgrade to 3.2e.
I followed the guide exactly but when i try to install bootmii i get a message saying FAILED (-1) so cant go any further.
I'm running an original release Wii modded with origanal wiikey but i think it may be dead as it is very tempermental with my backups, still plays originals fine though.
Any help would be greatly appreciated as i couldnt find anything similar on any other threads.

Quick question, why are you trying to downgrade to 3.2? There is absolutely no reason to downgrade anymore and indeed, you're more likely to brick trying to do it so it's just not worth the effort.

Also exactly which guide? There have been a lot of "ultimate" 4.0 guides, so much so that many give conflicting or old information.

the guide was by assassand.
The reason im trying to downgrade is to see if it will let me play any of my backups.
Not sure if this is a valid reason, just thought it might be worth a try before trying to find somebody to install a new modchip.
