Hello All,
So I recently bought a switch and SX OS.
It's on patch 6.2.0 with latest version of SX OS installed.
Is there any point in creating EmuNAND if even I dont connect my switch to the internet.
I mean I plan on going online in the future but not right now so should I still install emunand?
Or play XCI games on the the current firmware of of my nintendo switch?

EmuNAND was originally created as a way to let you enjoy the benefits of being on a higher firmware without updating your SysNAND. Best example was Gateway which could only be initially launched on firmwars 4.1-4.5 on the 3DS meaning you could not update your firmware and use Gateway, but EmuNAND quickly fixed that. The Switch is in a similar boat and although we can update our firmware without burning fuses, the "catch" is that you must enable AutoRCM. However if you only update EmuNAND, then you don't need AutoRCM as EmuNAND is virtually impossible to burn fuses with.

EmuNAND is also useful for bricks as if EmuNAND gets bricked, SysNAND will be unaffected and its much easier to restore a working EmuNAND than a working SysNAND.

I understand that.
But I'm willing to use emunand independently from my Sysnand.
Sure I have atmosphere atm but Im willing to play NSP's or XCI's safely at the moment so emunand would be a good choice for this or no?
Considering Im willing to go online in the near future when i buy smash bros and pokemon lets go that is why.
So would you suggest it?
Also can i run atmosphere/Kosmos on Emunand?

You do know Nintendo can detect emunand right?
Best would be backup before loading any CFW at all. When your done with CFW to play online restore that backup and hope your not silly enough to burn fuses since the backup

If nintendo can then isnt that a threat.
I mean I do not plan on running it via the system partition and my System is at 6.2.0 with 8 fuses burned.
For now I plan to keep playing purely on CFW and getting to reduce the risk of getting banned from online.
Which is why I ask. I have a NAND backup of 6.2.0 tho and Do not plan on downgrading.

If your backup is before loading any CFW S in you used the rcm boot into a bootloader and selected backup before even booting cfw just restore that when you want to go online. If not then there could be traces left that Nintendo can detect

They can but they currently don't, so not until a possible future system update at which point it should hopefully become obvious fairly quickly, so people can simply hold off on updating for a while until a new update is confirmed safe.

The only way to use EmuNAND is independently from SysNAND. Also EmuNAND is kinda perfect for what you're describing as the only alternative is staying offline with your CFW, piracy, and homebrew then restoring a clean hack-free NAND backup prior to going online.

Yea Exactly.
But is there any difference in installing the EmuNand on the SD card or in the Internal Memory?
I just performed a Clean Restore. And this whole linking and unlinking Nand, 2 SD card concept is sort of confusing me.
Also renaming folders like EmuTendo?
Can you help on this one?

I didnt have to unlink anything when I made an emunand... chose the "on SD card" option too. No need to rename the emutendo folder.

People suggest having a 2nd SD card, one for EmuNAND and one for SysNAND to minimize detection? I've only been using 1 card though and its been fine. Was playing online during 6.2 alot + switching back and forth (emunand for piracy/homebrew, sysnand for online)

So Basically Ive restored my Switch back to its original state.
So can you tell me Setup for EmuNand?
Like whats the difference in using different EmuNand Sizes?
And I'd really like to know if one can install Emunand on the NAND memory be use SD card to store all XCIs or NSPs without the Emunand taking up space on my sd card?
Any suggestions what to do?

I used this thread to help me install emunand :) good luck! read through it a couple of times

Remember this though, just to be 100% safe before you boot into RCM mode + SXOS menu, delete all WiFi settings AND turn airplane mode on. When you create your emunand it makes a complete copy of whatever your SysNAND was, including those internet settings.

I'm not too sure about emunand sizes, sorry. Personally I used the install to SD card option so I dont know about the NAND install. I dont want to give you bad advice :P
