I use a 250 gb WD passport my essential with 100 games on it. About 50 gb freespace left. Works flawlessly. No spin down issues, I've left it paused overnight before and restarted the game with no issues. Its nice and light and small so nice for transportation. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend this drive. It seems like those having issues with spin down on the my passport essential line have larger than 320 gb drives.

I have luck with a 500 GB Calvary drive (I imagine their 1TB is pretty similar, I have the 1TB, but it is for my computer, the 500GB is with the Wii Neweggs has them all) after I got screw by my 250 GB Buffalo drive

I think this is the 500 GB that I have http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx...N82E16822101134 You can find a similar 1 TB one too, they look to be using the exact same interface so the 1TB should play nicely with the Wii as well. Not to mention it got eSATA

Is a spinndown for a wd passport bad?

Yes. If the drive goes to sleep, your game crashes. Until there's a fix, only use drives that can have their sleep function turned off.

Hey remixer,
How has this drive been treating you? It seems to have a good GB:Price ratio.
Do you know if this drive has the Spindown issue? Thanks in Advance.

Hey i moded my wii with a 1TB mybook drive and then decided to mod my case. I was able to fit the mybook on top of the wii by using a damaged mod case that a client returned for the postable screen. with some adjustments i was able to feed my mybook from the screens power suply(wich feeds directly into the wii itself.) i am able to get this working fine and dandy and my wii now is completely portable. but i want to make some more mods before i make a vid of it so does anyone know where i can get :
a USB 2.0 adapter to increase the number of ports for the wii that is compatible with the wii.(tried a few of the ones in the shop none detected.
i aded a 4 wii charger base to my wii broke it up and made them sideways. i need some kind of white pvc case that is about the size of the wii to make a flip top so the motes dont fall off in traveling.
a power brick replacement for the wii that is at least 2" smaller in lenght.

with those i will have a XBOX360 sized wii wich has a built in 4 mote charger,15 inch screen, 1tb hd.
it has 2 extra fans and vents and its keeping cool with hd and all in it. completely portable fliptop would close ontop of the screen locking all intoplace with a press button(wich is why i need that pvp casing to overlap 2 zones for a press button.) any ideas?

@SylverReZ if you could find a v5 DS ML you would have the best of both worlds since the v5 units had the same backlight brightness levels as the DS Lite unlockable with flashme

A woman with no arms and no legs was sitting on a beach. A man comes along and the woman says, "I've never been hugged before." So the man feels bad and hugs her. She says "Well i've also never been kissed before." So he gives her a kiss on the cheek. She says "Well I've also never been fucked before." So the man picks her up, and throws her in the ocean and says "Now you're fucked."

anyways, we need to re-normalize physical media

if i didn't want my games to be permanent, then i'd rent them

Agreed, that why I try to buy all my games on disc, Xbox anyways. Switch games (which I pirate tbh) don't matter much, I stay offline 24/7 anyways.
  • AncientBoi @ AncientBoi:
    I don't pirate them, I Use Them :mellow:. Like I do @BigOnYa 's couch :tpi::evil::rofl2:

  • cearp @ cearp:
@BakerMan - you can still "own" digital media, arguably easier and better than physical since you can make copies and backups, as much as you like.

    The issue is DRM
  • cearp @ cearp:
You can buy drm free games / music / ebooks, and if you keep backups of your data (like documents and family photos etc), then you shouldn't lose the game. but with a disk, your toddler could put it in the toaster and there goes your $60

    :rofl2:
  • cearp @ cearp:
still, I agree physical media is nice to have. just pointing out the issue is drm
  • rqkaiju2 @ rqkaiju2:
i like physical media because it actually feels like you own it. thats why i plan on burning music to cds
  • cearp @ cearp:
It's nice to not have to have a lot of physical things though, saves space
