First off i will say that will be playing GBA just as much (maybe more) then DS on my DS Lite

Been using an EFA 512 on my micro and its pretty amazing how fast it is.

I really wanted a G6 because it seems that there is a far lower risk of any game slowing down. Even brief moments bug me. But it looks like the EZ4 Lite Deluxe / EZ Pass 3 is what i can afford.

Can anyone that has actually used an EZ4 for both GBA and DS games for a length of time longer then most reviewers have befoer they tell us "NO SLOWDOWNS" comment on the in game slowdowns that exist?

I'm aware that it is possible for real games to drop a frame or two and that bugs me when it happens.. so adding some more with a cheap cart would be real annoying

heh

How bad would my EFA cart work on the DS (i dont have a DS here atm) aside from the lack of space. DS support for it looks a little weak..

I should have also mentioned above that im aware of the FMV slowdowns and that doesn't bug me as much as actual in game slowdowns.

The other day I tried out my EZ4l and a generic 512 Sandisk card straight out of the box and freshly formatted with normal cluster size. All with the newest patchers (some updated ones improved speed) and loaders:
Tony Hawks AS was flawless (music changes normally summoned some slowdown
The CV video was watchable but not smooth, ingame has always been perfect.
Other games to check that I have not checked yet:
Megaman 5 (start movie and some ingame CGI, actual ingame is fine)
Metroid PH (doors take a little longer to open than a real cart)
The was a tennis game too that had a bit of slowdown around release 400 if I recall.
Animal crossing: slight stutter on building exist.

For what it is worth most CGI (ff3, Resident evil, tomb raider) seems to use a different codec/standard/settings these days and suffers no slowdown.

Thanks for the reply

To be honest the only DS games i can find that i would want to play would be...

Super Mario 64 DS
Castlevania Dawn of Sorrow
Mario Kart DS
Mario and Luigi Partners in Time
Super Princess Peach
Tetris DS
New Super Mario Bros
Yoshis Island DS

Other then that it will be mostly running GBA

Super Mario 64 DS fine
Castlevania Dawn of Sorrow completed multiple times
Mario Kart DS completed many times
Mario and Luigi Partners in Time Works fine, not played too far though
Super Princess Peach -Seem to recall it working fine
Tetris DS -Played about 2 hours yesterday, the day before that, the day before that...........
New Super Mario Bros Completed, mini games work fine too
Yoshis Island DS Not tried yet.

GBA: None of the acclaimed titles have had issues, only gripe would be the lack of instant save and compression (long standing features of the EZ3).

wow fuctfuct, i had almost the exact same questions...thanks fast61..
i too am wondering about yoshi's island DS though 8)

Thanks .. Well when you figure in the cost of a MicroSD the EZ4 really isn't all the much cheaper then G6 .. So im going to get a G6 and hope that its as good as everyone says

I spent around ~$95 US on my EZ4 Lite Deluxe and a 1 GB microSD... The G6, last I looked, was $140 w/ only 512 MB's. Something to think about.
