ROM Hack I'm making a FFIV translation patch...

I'm using the max media dock, every time I update to the new patch my save doesn't work anymore. So I keep having to start a new file. Anyone else having that problem? How far is the patch going to go? Cause if it's going all the way (text and all, I may wait a few weeks to update. But if you guys are almost done, then I'll keep updating.

Wow! I never knew a Translation patch would move along so quickly!
Well maybe because it's been released a numerous amount of times already.

Kudos to you, BelmontSlayer. ADD: (and Jisteatin, Raganook.. Kudos to you as well.

FFIV has always been one of my favorite FFs, along with VI, IX, and FF1.

I can't wait till you guys get finished.

No more waiting for the English version.

Not to be ominous and vague, but tonight you guys have QUITE the surprise coming your way : ). Two hours into it as we speak, about 2 more to go

Hi all, first of all i wish to thanks you for the translation patches ^^ I'm new to this practice since i've always tried to memorize japanese symbols without understanding. Anyway, I've just a little question about saved games and patches:
- Since original game saves does not work with patched games does a patched game save work with new patch versions ?
- Exemple: I patch my rom to version 0.6 and begin to play till late on the game, and then version 0.7 is out and omg it's 100% translated !!! Does my saved game will work if I copy/paste it into the new version patched rom folder ?

Thank you again for all what you do, and keep up the good work *cheers*

PS: Sorry for my english, it's not my mother tongue. And Happy Xmas !

Well, my saves dont work after I apply a new patch.. To do mine, I have to patch the rom, then take the patched rom and patch it with Mx Ovrld (didnt want to say the name, most forums say its taboo) using the Max Crass Method, then transfer it to my MMD. Once I do that, even though the rom is the same name as the save file and vice versa, the save doesn't work with the new patch.

Could only be that way on the MMD. No one has said whether they are using MMD.

You guys are doing great! So, what was the big surprise you mentioned before?

Its a surprise

i like this
thxs

i have play the
SNES (FFII):HAVE IT
PS1:HAVE IT
GBA:HAVE IT
versions
so i know what to do for the most part

are you going to
translation on the mini-games?
translation on the text bubble the open when you go to the menu?
translation on when you get 100% map

Maybe it was easier to translate everything than we originally thought? I haven't seen a "complete" English translation patch for DS yet. Even GBA has quite few that are done as opposed to in-progress.

Well, you wouldn't technically be translating the story if you copy/pasted the GBA's translation, now would you? I guess the secret's out.... right??

...Story?Hey, don't be so mean

.

Look at his post, and tell me it's not hinty.

I'm not being mean. I gave you a smiley holding a DS, didn't I?

If it was that easy we would have done it already. Sadly, the space constrictions in the game would make it almost impossible to translate without:
A) Mad haxxoring skillz
B) Having access to the source code

Now, Squeenix would have to be complete idiots not to localize this game. I'm sure even they realize the amount of revenue it would bring in!
