i dont see any computer that could compare in price

MY EYES!! They BUUUURRRN!!

On a more serious note: Why do people still by Mac computers? Don't they realize that for that price, you can get a PC for at least TRIPLE the power?!

EDIT: More, if you build it yourself...

They advertise their shit so people think its the best since no one else really does. They are also uninformed of better choices. Like how everyone one pretty much has a iPoop. >.>

They advertise macs as though they arent just computers (see: "im a mac, im a pc").
They do a good job at pretending a mac is something magical and perfect.

Not really if you know how to do quick searches.

Only because people are ignorant is why it works. Their arguements are incredible stupid still.

Quit derailing the topic. He said he was building a PC, not getting an Alienware or Mac. Both are overpriced in comparison to building your own PC.

Don't know why I decided to add this: from what I heard iBuyPower is pretty good and WAY cheaper than Alienware for prebuilt gaming PCs.

A couple of questions:

What's your price range?

Do you want to use Core 2 Duo/Quad with DDR2 or Core i3/5/7 with DDR3?

What games do you plan or want to play?

Are you going to overclock?

just portraying the image that mac is for cool people and pc is for old people and nerds
and get some celebrity endorsement and the product really fly's off the shelves

this is nothing new though adverting companies had been doing this forever
from soda, snack foods, cigarettes, beer, clothing, and lots of other products

osx is a ton less hassle compared to windows, problem is osx has virtually no support compared to the amount windows has. if you don't play games often, it's one of the bests OS's you can get your hands on (i'd say a linux distro but wine is lacking decent adobe product support, no gimp doesnt cut it).

this thread is just nitrostemp being an extremely poor troll.

Okay, pick out an apple macbook/pro, imac, or an apple desktop's specs, and then show me a configuration (prebuilt or a collection of parts) for the same price with at least triple the power, remember to include the price of all the accessories and warranty.

I'm a PC user, I just can't stand when people spread lies about any brand/device.

Can you even upgrade a MAC? Just out of curiosity, I'd be surprised if you could make it last longer than a few years.

Depends what you mean by upgrade. The only mac that has upgrade ability outside of hdd and ram is the Pro because its the only mac built with desktop parts. iMacs and Minis are just laptop hardware in a desktop case, so theres not much you can do to upgrade it.

and most macs don't even play games and the ones that do do it bad as they have to be run through crossover or some other thingAge of Empires 2+3, America's Army, Alice, Battlefield 1942+2142, Bioshock, Black And White 1+2, Call Of Duty 1+2+4, City Of Heroes/Villains, Civilization 3+4, various C&C games, Diablo 2+3, Doom 3, Quake Wars, Eve Online, Fable, need I continue?

Every single one of those games runs natively in OSX, no crossover or any sort of emulation required.

Or just use Windows on a Mac?

Wait, what... MAC CAN USE TEH WINDOWS!? NO WAI MAN.

Running Bioshock, L4D2, HL2 on my MacBook nicely

Why do people still buy computers at all? Buying a mac is just the same as buying a PC. Okay, you might be able to get an equally powerful PC for less, but is it anywhere near the same quality?

Find me a PC made a nicley as a Mac for >£1000.

IF all you're interested in power, and are on a budget, building one is the best option. But you're never going to get a PC someone build themselves that is as nice to have and use as a Mac.

I never really got what all the Apple hate was about. Jealously maybe?

OK, I'm gonna back out of this one, as much as I'd like to participate in a Mac vs PC debate...

This has gone WAAAAY off topic, and it's borderline flamewar.

So, at the OP, browse through Newegg.com. You can get prebuilt PCs, or you can get all the parts from them at very good prices. It's the only site I use if I need hardware, and I love the place! Computer geek paradise!

Most of the hate arises from arrogant comments like this.

Newegg is the way to go, but if the OP wants help he needs to post a budget so we know what parts so suggest.
