Now that the Switch 2 is finally here and Nintendo delivers genius new monetizing strategies, new pricing, new ways to upcharge the customer and also a new handheld, ive been wondering.

How could Nintendo get even greedier for the Switch 3? What new money-gimmicks could we expect there? In what areas could Nintendo overcharge the consumer for the NEXT next-gen handheld?

This thread more than a question looks like a whining one.

As I've always said since the price of the Switch 2 was unveiled, "gamers" asked for it, Nintendo delivered and now they're crying because they thought it would be for free!

Why stopping on Switch 3, how about Switch 1,000?

This type of threads only bring useless "future thoughts", instead of providing useful content and ideas.

You are so right! OMG, you nailed it on the head. People were expecting it to be free!
Sage words, delivered wisely.
Such a marvelous understanding of the human condition.
Dostoevsky eat your heart out.

Which corporation is out to hand out charity? They all have to answer to shareholders. Given opportunities, Microsoft, Sony, and all of these companies will do the same.

Precisely.

But from those companies you mention people already know what to expect (really nothing new), not from Nintendo, "they always play their own game".

It is no less ludicrous on that side of the argument than the idiots who droned on in every forum, non-stop for weeks about Nintendo's alleged greed without once adjusting the price of the massively-upgraded Switch 2 and it's games for inflation. (Spoiler: A $60 game like Mario Kart 8 Deluxe in 2017 is the SAME price as an $80 game today like Mario Kart World, adjusted for inflation.)

(And I would have gone with Gabriel Garcia Marquez. A Dostoevsky in 2025 makes you sound as if you went to college during the Cold War.)

Nintendo has absolutely no choice but to "play their own game." Sony and particularly Microsoft could decide today to exit the video game business completely and they'd still go on strong selling everything else they produce (only 8% of MSFT's revenues come from their gaming division). Nintendo sells... games. That's it. They cannot take a loss on every console sold nor be charitable when it comes to pricing their games, which are obviously amongst the best ever in every generation. This is how they make money, period.

I know that this is meant to be a shitpost, but please, fuck no. 8 years of the Switch, now 8 more with Switch 2. No need to extend what's already over a decade and a half into more than 2 decades.

What would be interesting is how Nintendo intends to iterate on the developing Switch "formula."

I foresee Mario Kart always being the first game with every Switch announcement, since it (and its DLC) will last the length of the gen. Smash will follow in short order to boost hype. There will always be one new 3D Mario and one or two new mainline Zelda games. The dormant franchises, like Star Fox, F-Zero, Kid Icarus, etc., will probably swap gens to keep the hype building. Keeping the gen going for about seven years would be ideal for Nintendo.

TL;DR: I cannot wait for the Switch 3, just so I can watch for patterns.

I just want a new console that is not backwards compatible and I have to buy all the remasters to play games I already own that I want to play on the new console. I also want to pay a yearly subscription to upload my saves to the cloud.

A digital only, online only, Switch with 512GB-1TB SSD at $599. First pirated free Nintendo Console.
Fixed that for ya. Means of access not included.

There.

Switch 3 ideas:
A coin slot to put in quarters for extra lives
Controller sold separately, unplayable out of the box
Screen is half resolution unless you subscribe to Nintendo online
Game cartridges have time bombs/expire after 5 years
Mono sound is default, stereo sound DLC available on per game basis
Upgradeable RAM a la N64, the base RAM leaves games with considerable fog and items clipping out of view
