I plan to buy a linker for my 3DS xl in 9.2.0.20
What is the best ? (maybe between gateway and sky3ds)
What are the pros and cons for each ?

Gateway is the best if you don't mind waiting for the next update.
Gateway is region free, runs homebrew, installs games/dlc/updates as if it came from eShop, plays online and has a good track record of improvement.
Sky3DS is region locked, runs games and eShop games that you own. It also works with the latest firmwares.

I'm pretty sure there will be other people saying more stuff so this enough for now

Yes, it supports online. Your on your own for gettings roms (like every flash card)

No. It doesn't work today with anything above 4.5. If you want to play today, and only clean ROMs from your region, sky3ds.

As I said, it's the best choice if you don't mind waiting for the upcoming update that will support your firmware version.

If you buy it and were to get it TODAY, no. The gateway needs an update before it will even work on 9.2. They promised this update will arrive sooner rather than later, but I'd advise definitely not updating your 3DS and not getting a Gateway until the update actually happens, just in case.

If you're on 9.2 and bellow I would suggest to buy a Gateway "linker", if you're above then sadly you would have to buy a Sky3ds for now.

Sky3ds pros:
1. can work on any software til date.
2. Can go online.
Sky3ds cons:
1. No upgrade capabilities so once you're done you're done til they release a new card if they magically manage to pull the same shit twice.
2. Switching roms takes a lot of time which is annoying.
3 possible hardware failure due to the ware and tear of the physical button.

Gateway 3DS pros:
1. Emunand which makes your 3ds absolutely future proof,!
2. Devmenu and cia installation.
3. Easy to access and quick multirom menu.
4. The card is updateable which again makes it future proof.
5. Free and good quality updates.
6. Region free.
7. NAND dump.
8. Card dump.
Gateway 3DS cons.:

It currently only works on 4.x but they should release an update which provides higher firmware support before 2015.

Basically if the guy can wait a little while longer the I would highly suggest buying a GW card. If he ends up buying a Sky3ds theres a more than a high probability that nintendo is gonna patch it so he can kiss his $100 goodbye.
