This is such a confusing thread.

Install XP to then install Vista? And something about Avast breaking the OS? Jeez, Avast is a sh*tty AV why would you use that.

Just go with 7 if you want an old Windows OS that's stable, but if the specs can't run 10... There's always Linux distros.

back after a year what os do i put on my chromebook
Please, stop.
You have absolutely no clue what you are doing. You'll end up trying to run WindowsXP on the ARM Chromebook while ignoring everyones reccomendations because you think it is 'right' or 'ok to do so'. Ask someone who is more experienced with tech to fix your Chromebook.

Better question: why don't you start a new thread? It's not like it costs money or something.

(but boy, this necrobump of a thread that was outdated when it was new is hilarious in its own right. So it has that going for it :D ).

Don't make a new thread without making clear what was the point of this one. 😆

I read through all replies yesterday and I feel like just adding a :rofl2: notification to all @LuckyTM's posts would be seen as trolling, but it's genuinely hilarious.

It reminds me of me a bit in the sense that in my line of work I often get handed outdated, broken or just unwanted PC pieces. Of course I recycle most and ensure data is eliminated, but I've posted on my recent re-use of old HP G4 elitedesks. This thread is like the equivalent of that but on thrown windows licenses. But really...why go there? Windows XP? Windows 8? Chromebook?

If it's the need to tinker...The "because I can" mentality....by all means: do so. But that implies...actually doing so. This thread is the equivalent of McGuyver calling a helpdesk asking how to start a jet engine by using a clothes button, two pieces of string and a paperclip.
