Gaming I just realized how much that sux

I found playing Links Awakening DX fixed this fairly quickly... the amount of times you're pressing start in that game to switch items quickly burns into your head where the start button actually is

But yeah I did that mistake once before (shortly after getting my 3DS) and have very nearly done it a couple of times since, but i haven't done so recently.

I've done that about three times as well, but I hardly ever use my 3DS. The result of switching from a DS lite to a 3DS, I suppose.

ALL the buttons are misplaced on the system, the power button espcially, i almost presssed it while in game, like i have said before this console was rushed and i don't think nintendo put any quality control in this handheld at all, hook how flimsy the analouge stick is, one hard push of that and it's history.

There's should be confirmation if you really want to quit from game. And power button on 3DS in the same place as START on DS Lite, so nothing wrong with people pressing it by mistake.

Tapping the power button while its on doesn't shut it off, you need to hold it for about 3-4 seconds.

Mistakes happen, but, still..

For the case with the 3DS, when you press it once, it'll ask if you would like to shut the system, leave in sleep mode or go back to the home menu.

DSi yes, 3 - 4 seconds.

ON the 3ds, you can hold it for 4 seconds to shut it off, tapping it will ask to shut it off via touch screen.

People dont complain that the gas and brake pedals are so close to each other in the car so they get messed up all the time. Herp. Derp.
Because people have brains and can comprehend that the two different shaped, located, and purposed buttons are different.
Everyone makes mistakes and may accidentally hit the power button, but as for the 3DS being a piece of untested junk, yeah... no.

I don't have problems with my power button (aqua blue), it reacts as it should. I need to hold it 3 seconds to turn it off and this never can happen random. Well I only have the 3ds 3 days now, so who knows if I get problems later on.

yeah i know you have to hold the power down to turn the 3ds off (not sure if this still applies while you are ingame), but you can still hit the button by accident (becasue of a design flaw) so it is still annoying.

cars are manufactured where the driver's seat and passenger seat are switched...

Anyway, the power button is no issue. If you simply tap your buttons like your supposed to messing up won't do anything.

You should've been used to the 3DS by now. That's actually careless if you press Power Button by mistake, I never pressed it by mistake, even without looking my finger always goes to the right button, why? Because I'm used to the design of the 3DS. And it's perfect as it is.

I don't press the button often and I hadn't got used to the 3DS, on the DS lite the start button is about where this power button is... It's not like you look 5 minutes on the buttons before you press it. You just quickly slide your thumb until it reaches a heightened surface and press it.
Also when I did it I instantly realized what I had done, doing a facepalm. And it has only happened one time so stop being such an ass. I'm just telling my opinion about it, not asking for your opinion about people with opinions of the button layout and especially not your way of trying to be funny by exaggerating how stupid you are/need to be to do a 1 cm miss pressing another button.
