Well somehow I lost pretty much interest on the Vita at launch because of the new PS3 slim my dad ordered (mostly for BD movies on my new TV) and some other stuff like money.

But the thing is, I love monster hunter. However I just reek to get a Wii for Tri. I got a PSP at launch then but it spoiled about a year ago when my bro spilled juice on it. Importing Portable 3rd HD is sooooo expensive. Hence I feel like getting another PSP for all my Monster Hunter love (also in case Tri G doesn't get localized). My friends all play Monster Hunter Freedom Unite on it and I will have no problems with ad-hoc.

Opinions? Do you think I should go for it? Well, I sold off my UMDs after my PSP broke... so I'll need to repurchase. Plus PSPs are quite cheap now.

PS Vita can only play psp games up on PSN, and fortunately, I see that Monster Hunter Freedom Unite is up on PSN. Since you've already sold your UMD, getting it off of PSN might be a better option, since psp games played on the Vita gets upscalled to the Vita's screen (don't know if the second analog nub will be usable though). Also, if you get a Vita, you'll be able to play Vita games. If you're already considering the Vita, I don't know if getting a psp as well is a smart thing to do. You know, the memory stick used is different, so you'll have to get one for psp and one for Vita if you decide to get both. That's quite a lot of budget.

Hacking doesn't get rid of online
Won't Sony disable PSN or whatever?

Sorry, didn't hack my old PSP so I'm pretty much a noobie. :P

EDIT: Just checked Portable 3rd in Japan digital download costs 2,990 Yen. Itching to get one.

PSPs are cheap nowadays. Buy used.
Nah. I never buy used consoles ever since I got cheated once.

I just brought another go! LOL.
The main reason why I want a 3000 instead of a Go is because of the wider screen :P

I did consider the Vita, but I lost interest in it for now because the launch games don't appeal to me. I might pick one up maybe a year later when more Vita games are available and then play my PSN purchases there. Knowing Sony, I'll buy all Vita content digitally as well.

Oh and thanks for the link :P

Homebrew (some nice sounding ones)
Underclocking (Saves battery while listening to music)
Overclocking (only used for Homebrew/emus really)

Maybe but you want to download off JPN PSN right?
It'll be a pain swapping accounts if you want to buy off the other PSNs.

Easier to just download the game, Capcom doesn't need your money

And that Wikipedia link doesn't have everything, just download MediaGo and look for yourself.

You mean pirate? :P

And yeah, it's a JPN PSN. :(

I'd say go for 8GB but your choice...
Cuz my gamestore offers a full set PSP pack with a 4GB pro duo at $30+

:/

4GB is fine as long you only plqy one or two games at a time.

???

That'd be extreme circumstances....even large games are seldom over about 1.2GB's so even with two there's still plenty of room for emulators, smaller PSP games, Mini's, PSX games, PDF's etc...

I just remembered something: Sony has Asia headquarters, and does NOT follow western release dates unlike Nintendo. Hence PSV will launch earlier here.

Well... One thing for sure is that it will definitely retail for more than $300. The PSP-3006 at Sony SGs site is $299, still. Even with the PS Vita banner. I dunno... I would love upscaled HD Monster Hunter but it's expected to be much more expensive. And with those memory addons...

Confused... :(

yall im torn... ive been hacking away at tales of phantasia GBA (the USA version) and have so many documents of reverse engineering i've done
  • TwoSpikedHands @ TwoSpikedHands:
I just found out that the EU version is better in literally every way, better sound quality, better lighting, and there's even a patch someone made to make the text look nicer
  • TwoSpikedHands @ TwoSpikedHands:
Do I restart now using what i've learned on the EU version since it's a better overall experience? or do I continue with the US version since that is what ive been using, and if someone decides to play my hack, it would most likely be that version?
  • Sicklyboy @ Sicklyboy:
@TwoSpikedHands, I'll preface this with the fact that I know nothing about the game, but, I think it depends on what your goals are. Are you trying to make a definitive version of the game? You may want to refocus your efforts on the EU version then. Or, are you trying to make a better US version? In which case, the only way to make a better US version is to keep on plugging away at that one ;)
  • Sicklyboy @ Sicklyboy:
I'm not familiar with the technicalities of the differences between the two versions, but I'm wondering if at least some of those differences are things that you could port over to the US version in your patch without having to include copyrighted assets from the EU version
  • TwoSpikedHands @ TwoSpikedHands:
@Sicklyboy I am wanting to fully change the game and bend it to my will lol. I would like to eventually have the ability to add more characters, enemies, even have a completely different story if i wanted. I already have the ability to change the tilemaps in the US version, so I can basically make my own map and warp to it in game - so I'm pretty far into it!
  • TwoSpikedHands @ TwoSpikedHands:
I really would like to make a hack that I would enjoy playing, and maybe other people would too. swapping to the EU version would also mean my US friends could not legally play it
  • TwoSpikedHands @ TwoSpikedHands:
I am definitely considering porting over some of the EU features without using the actual ROM itself, tbh that would probably be the best way to go about it... but i'm sad that the voice acting is so.... not good on the US version. May not be a way around that though
