Ok, I'm 15 years old, but I never got my permit yet due to new shitty laws. Recently I found this:

http://driversed.com/courses/drivers-ed/fl....aspx?ID=AIMBOT

It was advertised on aim. Is there any catch? It says its free, and it's all I need to get a permit? Or am I missing something?

"1. Take a DHSMV-approved First Time Driver Florida Drivers Ed Course
2. Study for the Florida learners permit / learners license test
3. Apply for the Florida learners permit / learners license
4. Practice driving under supervision
5. Take the driving test for your Florida drivers license"

So I can just learn online?

It seems alright to me, but I'm actually taking taking a drivers ed class in school, got my permit about 4 weeks ago.

The site shows a help number and there's live chat, you can just ask about it with one of those options.

oh, and you do actually need cash at some point, getting your permit cost $20.00, I don't remember the other costs though.

What shitty laws prevented you from taking the permit test?

My friend took it really easily online, and I think I will take mine later today.

By the way, FLVS is the official place for online classes in Florida so its completely credible. I took a class online there last year.

New age limit; I couldn't take it when I was 14 cause I was born after June something.

personally, imo letting someone drive at 14 is an incredible stupid idea. its just WAY too young. even in canada, 16? there's no way a kid would have the maturity to do so by then. i would say at least 18.

though keep in mind, i'm not calling U immature. remember, a person is smart, but ppl r stupid

I dunno what laws they've changed in the last couple of years, but 3 years ago at least you just needed to do some stuff online and visit the DMV to get a learner's permit in Florida. And since you need to have had a learner's permit for a whole year before you can get a real driver's license in Florida, I suggest you get the learner's permit as soon as possible.

I dunno how that "school credit" from the FLVS course works though... it might bring down your HPA depending on course weighting or whatever

It credits exactly like an in-school course does.

My fifteenth birthday was in May, and I got my permit on September 29th (seriously, I'm a procrastinating fuckhead). You should be able to get yours, as I doubt there's much of a difference between Mississippi driving laws and Florida driving laws.

You asked your parents or maybe the Driver's Ed teacher at your school?

He means that it will lower your GPA, depending on how your school weighs your GPA

You can get a license from 15 over there?! *Rushes to the US*

We have to wait until 16 to drive.
It's fairly limited though.

At 15 you get a learner's permit, which means you must drive with a licensed driver over 21 in the front passenger seat, and you can't drive froim about 10PM until sunrise (for the first three months you can only drive when its light out)

When you are 16 and have had your learner's for a year you don't need a 21 or over with you but you can't drive from 11PM-about 6AM unless you have proof that you are going to work.
When you are 17 you can drive from 5AM-1AM.

When you are 18 you have an unrestricted license like you get in Europe according to FAST6191.

Although I don't know too much regarding the subject, all I know is that we have similar rules here, and we have to drive for 3 years until we can actually do as we wish.

So, in short, we have similar rules huh.
