Are you new to PC gaming?

The maximum power consumption of a gaming laptop is around 100 to 200W. There's no way that could beat a gaming desktop, which can easily consume over 500W.

Practical example, find me a laptop that can come close to a 4-way SLI GTX Titan rig or a CrossfireX HD 7970 rig. Go on. You won't.

And what do you have against against desktops? A $700 desktop will perform the same as a $1200 laptop. You pay for portability, but not everyone needs portability.

I need portability. Plus laptops are sexy. (This is your fault; you made me say it.) And I've never done much PC gaming: that's what a PSP/Xbox/Wii is for.
(Of course, there is the Hocus Pocus game and the Jurassic Park one...)

I figured laptops were just as powerful as desktops; this is an amazing age for computers. You saw how the PSVita has a quadcore processor. And that's much smaller than a PS3.
Why can't it be the same with laptops and desktops?

*facepalms*... *reads your reply again*... *facepalms again*

Yeah... I knew you weren't big into PC gaming. The errors in your reply confirm that.

I know your sig says you don't care about specs, but here's some things everyone who doesn't live under a rock needs to know:

  • Core count does not directly equal performance
The PS Vita's quad-core processor can't even beat a dual-core Pentium D from 2005. ARM vs X86, high-TDP vs low-TDP, different die sizes, etc. There are more important factors which affect performance.
  • CPU has comparatively little effect on gaming performance
Gaming performance is mostly dependant on GPU.
  • Frequency does not directly equal performance
Refer to first point. A 4.5 GHz FX chip can't beat a 3 GHz Core i7. The 3.2 GHz chip in the PS3 can't even come close to a 2.5 GHz Core i5.
  • RAM or VRAM does not directly equal performance
This is for those PS4 fanboys who are like "PS4 is so powerful! 8 GB of RAM"

And btw, the PS3 is about 5 times more powerful than the PS Vita. Also, an average gaming PC is 5 times more powerful than the PS3 and PS Vita combined.

Then I'd rather live under a rock. As long as it runs things properly, then I'm happy. But I don't like it when people take advantage of this and release a shit ton of shovelware.

So better hardware automatically means developers make lower quality games? Reason?
No; if you've got better hardware, then the games' quality should meet that better hardware's standards. But like I said, I don't care about a long list of specifications; I just want to get a rewarding, enjoyable experience by playing a game that uses those specifications. But sometimes developers do make lower quality games. In that case, I'd still prefer an enjoyable experience instead of complaining about the fact that the game didn't use enough of the specifications. (It's probably why I played Spider-Man 3 on the Wii and enjoyed it...)

Well, from what I've heard from my parents, he had a seizure last night, perhaps an epileptic episode, fucking died, had a near death experience, my dad called the paramedics, they showed up, took him to the hospital, and he woke up covered in tubes, and started complaining.

He couldn't eat until after his MRI, when he had a bomb pop.
