Change USB Mode to flash0 in the VSH menu
Connect to PC
Go to flash0/vsh/misc/version.txt
Open up version.txt in notepad
Change 9.90 to 5.00
Exit out and don't forget to change USB back to memory stick

Just bought a psp go with 5.70 on it. I've downloaded OFW 6.20 EBOOT.PBP...how do I upgrade the PSP from 5.70 to 6.20 now? I've loaded the EBOOT into an UPDATE folder in GAME, but now what? Relatively confused.

I snagged a PSP1000 from my friend, and it has 6.31 OFW. What exactly is the risk of bricking, and should I be worried?

There's no risk with a 1000 (other than the standard risks of bricking, but that's like "don't stab yourself in the heart when cutting a piece of string").

"to your download speed is capped" should be "till".

Also note that Later model 3000s can't use 6.20 perm, so if the user has a 3000 (or a go, just to be safe) they should first run the temporary 6.20, then view their system info (which will now show their motherboard revision instead of their MAC), 01g-05g can use permanent, while 09g can't. As far as we know all the Gos are 05g, but it never hurts to be sure.

I'll try to update the FAQ when I can.

I just got a Toy Story version of PSP 3002 with 6.20 OFW. Reading the guide, it says that I need to check my MAC add to see if its 01g-05g?

The thing is, there is no such letter in my MAC address. Am i looking at it wrong?

Can you by any chance give an example of which digit i should be looking at?

The hack you run changes the display to your motherboard (instead of the MAC).

Oh, okay. Just checking. I'd be pretty bummed if there was a relatively high risk of bricking, since I managed to snag this PSP with my last 50

So i should follow the instruction on page one,

1. Launch the 6.20 OFW update (Skip if didn't download)
2. Launch the 6.20 PRO-B Updater and follow the steps (The icon says UPDATE)

2.5. Check the MAC address to see if it's 01g - 05g

3. Launch the 6.20 PRO-B Permanent Patch (The icon says PERMANENT BOOTLOADER)
4. Enjoy!

I used this guide for upgrading my PSP-1000 model from 5.00 M33-6, thanks. (Couldn't do the test of the permanent patch though, had to press O to install it, otherwise it failed)
