Android How to run android as an os for pc?

My acer 1 came with android 2.1 and windows installed the android OS ran perfectly
So i was wondering if there would be any way to install the latest android OS onto a usb or onto my HDD

Wow i google android live and first result is an official google website with links to a live cd
unfortunately they haven't updated since Aug 21, 2009

You can try a windows application called "youwave", its basically android for windows, it works pretty nicely

Be sure to backup anything that needs backing up as your data may get erased no matter what you do, some guides forget to mention that.
