You can't 'hack' the DSi in that sense.
If you buy a flashcart you can play DS games on it. A good flashcart would be an Acekard 2i or a Supercard DSTWO. You wouldn't be able to download and play DSi mode games and DSiWare, though. DSi mode hasn't been cracked yet.

There will always be something impossible, and the moment it gets possible, another unsolvable problem arises.

There are no hacks, and there most likely won't ever be any hacks for the DSi, mainly because no one is interested in hacking it. See: 3DS.

R4s suck btw.

True. Everything is possible, given the time and interest that is.

Bottom line is that there isn't a lot of DSi exclusive game going on (3 I believe?) right now. Those games plus DSiware are not appealing to many people. Plus most people are anticipating 3DS instead. So little people attempted to hack DSi.

"There ain't no such thing as a free lunch". You want a DSiware, then buy it. You already invested some money into DSi, why not DSiware?

FYI: R4 itself is not DSi compatible, fakes one yes.

The DSi being hacked comes in 2 flavors.

Short version: No.
Long version: Nooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo. Well, actually, yes, it has been hacked, but it is nowhere near a plausible means of using it like you would with stuff on the original DS, as it requires getting into and editing the save memory of a DSi-compatible game, and having the game crash with a buffer overrun (I think that's how Team Twiizer did it) to allow redirecting code execution to custom-made code. Basically, it's in it's infant stage, and can't be used by anyone for any real purpose.
