Hacking how to find firmware version?

I have r4i gold and i have not enable wifi since i bought my 3ds as i accidentally clicked on "system update" button in settings first time i got my 3ds because of a stupid tutorial saying you read your firmware version in there...

how can i actually see the firmware installed on my 3ds? i want to make sure my R4i gold will be compatible with latest firmware; what is the latest firmware?

ok found out.. i have 4.1.0 .. if i enable wifi, my r4i gold will be safe? or there's a new firmware out there?

OK it seems there is a new firmware.. i am downloading the update for r4i gold.. can anyone confirm latest 3ds firmware is 4.5?

The latest is 4.5.x, yes.

You can use wifi for DS games and such fine, but if you try to play new 3DS games or try to use any official nintendo services (like the eshop), it will require an update first, so don't do those.

i have just extracted the newest kernel download of r4i gold on my sd card... my interface has changed but i have no idea to know if my r4i gold is actually up to date..any idea?

Yes, you can update if the update of your R4ids.cn R4i gold 3DS succeed. many cards from R4ids.cn have problems with the update.

Your card is not compatible with the latest 3DS firmware. Do not update.

First you have to check the PCB revision of your R4i:

What is there written? 0-9, A, B or C? The following guide is for revision C only.

That's the first step. Now you have to:
-Download this
-unzip it at your MicroSD, put the MicroSD in the R4i and the R4i in the 3DS
-Start the *.NDS and press "A"
-If the cardcheck fails: You have to wait for another update.
-If it works: Wait until it says "Done", go to the 3DS Home menu, try to boot your R4i and if that works you can update your system.
