Since when should the firmware matter? We don't have any exploits on the parental controls do we? Nintendo doesn't update that do they?

I remember they updated Parental Controls at one time, but I'm not sure about what... something about a PIN.

I believe the formula for the Parental Controls master key changed in 7.0.0-13. so things that work on the DSi/Wii/pre-7.0 3DS don't work.
