ROM Hack How to change ORAS character sprite

I'm honestly the biggest noob to ever grace the 3DS hacking scene- I saw some people playing as Maxie and Steven on Youtube and I wanted to try! Little did I know that tutorials on ROM hax were few and far between... In fact, there really were none for the goal I wanted to achieve. Don't get me wrong, legendaries and lvl 100 shinies are fantastic, but as of now I'm more immersed in the story and I'd like to mix things up! So long story short: can somebody make me a tutorial so I can play as Steven in ORAS? Thank you!
