How openly do you talk about hacking?

I don't think this has been asked before so:

How open are you when talking to other people about hacking your consoles? Do you try to hide the fact do you go blurting it out how you get all your games for free? I've added 2 polls, one about light hacking for homebrew etc. the other about pirating games.

Personally I tell my friends as they would soon find out anyway when they come to my house, in fact a few now have R4s after they'd seen mine,

Discreet - you only tell if they press you, only your family know

How open are you about having pirated games?
Fairly Open - you openly tell your friends but not the milkman/bus driver etc.

Personally, it really depends. I can't say I don't have any pirated software on my game consoles, but then again I have more homebrewed software on those than I do Pirated games. I'll talk to my friends about it and explain to them how to do it and they'll go back to their house and do it.

I am very open about hacking/modding, and even my flashcard use.

And I am mostly open to my friends about my piracy, but must people know thanks to that fact

My mom heard me mention that i was helping out a website, so she got curious, because I'm fairly well known for skirting the law.
I explained to her that the site was dedicated to information about hacking, but didn't provide illegal files.
She got a very suspicious look on her face and asked who made sure illegal things weren't done on the site.
I grinned at her and said "I do!"

....That's when she got extremely worried....

I'm very open to everybody about having flashcarts and knowledge of hacking consoles.

I don't recommend being very open about it. I don't pay for anything. Books, music, magazines, games, software. My ex girlfriend threatened to turn me in in an act of revenge for getting dumped. I did find the threat a little unnerving because there was no way I could remove all the questionable items. I'm a business owner and the BSA has a price on my head as it is. You really do have to be aware of vindictive people.

I'm fairly open about it. I won't mention it unless I need to, but all my friends do know that I pirate. buy my games legally. No, god no, I don't pirate, I'm a good little boy, who follows all the rules.

Well, my parents are the ones that bought me the materials needed for backing up my DS games in the first place, and they went out and bought me a SuperCardDSTWO so that I could play my backed up GBA Games. So they're pretty cool with softmodding and the likes. I wouldn't know about piracy, as I've never had a need to download a title. Though to be fair, I did try that web browser emulator at EP, so I'm not sure if that counts.

Well very open to be honest!

First let's sum up my parents and my friends:

Me: Pirating windows stuff (games, and programs), music and lot's of other stuff (movies, music) Also DS games.
I buy PS3 games (the fair way)
Father: Also regular movie pirate, he is just like me! we both use downloading tools :3
Uncle/neighbour: Movie pirate
One of my friends, call him E: Windows pirate, game pirate and much more
Other best friend: Major pirate like me, we love it, and laugh at Tim Kuik.

So yeh, thats basicly it.

I'm quite open about it save my family with certain consoles.

To my mothers knowledge, I only use flashcarts for homebrew, My Wii isn't hacked at all (HBC and stuff are on the second page), She never sees my ipod, my PS2 isn't hacked at all, I only play burnt discs on my PS1 and DC for homebrew. Edit: And that homemade GBC flashcart I have is a game I made myself.

All other consoles I have are legit.

The reverse happened: I was actually the last one to pirate, and, after a few self-switches between pirating and not, I settled for pirating to save everyone money. Even so, just now I bought Pokémon Black, not just to keep myself out of trouble in tournaments, but also to take advantage of the Dream World and IR. (I should be ready for anything, right?)

Essentially, if I have a system, I pirate.

Even so, I do have some hombrew in my DS and Wii, not just emulators.

in hungary, it's more like a miracle if u've got a legit copy of sth
even 6yo little girls play sims pirated and by the age of 10, most of them know how to download stuff and at least use a crack that is just about overwriting
yes, that's how imbalanced the prices are for games/systems

you guys making me jealous. all we get in the UK is slow releases, crap internet speeds and uber-copyright laws.

I'm fairly open on both. Some of my friends hack and the majority of them either play roms on emus, have a hacked wii, or have some sort of flashcart for their NDS. When it comes to discussion we're usually out in the open about it but it's not something I go around bragging about.
With it being not so legal or whatever, it still scares me to talk to rando or not so closem people about it unless they suddenly bring it up in conversation.
