Gaming How long does it last?

So, i dont want to goto stores, every year. If i buy a 1 year Xbox Live Card(From like Target or somthing), how long will it last(After its been activated)

You guys dont get it. You think "After i put in the code, and its activated"

Im saying: If i dont put the code in, and save it. After its been activiated(bought from store. It has to be activated to be used. So, if i just "take one" it wont be usable since its not activated.)
