ROM Hack How hard would it be to hack WFC into Local games?

Is it a completely plausible idea to say, hack Dragon Quest IX to play over WiFi via friend codes?
This is comping from someone with no programming experience. I'm not asking anyone to do this, I just want to know if it can be done.

You'd have to create clients and you'd have to implement a server. Then you'd have to ASM hack the hell out of the game, so it'd be very unlikely.

No. this is effectively impossible. it would require decompiling the original programming of the game and editing how all the data structers were handled to support another player, then creating all new code to handle multiplayer, then recompiling.

without the original source, its impossible. with the original source of a game, its "took a team of 50 people 3 years to producewith a budget of more than a million dollars" impossible.

I would think that at least HOMEBREW would be possible to hack Wi-Fi multiplayer into, but a retail game? No. Not at all.
