i once downloaded the app "MyWi" or something like that and i tried to run it from my ipod touch and my laptop recognized the signal, but couldnt connect. was there something i did wrong?

Only use MyWi on the iPhone and the 3G iPad.

MyWi is a wi-fi tethering app. It basically makes an iPhone/iPad act like a 3G modem. It won't work on your iPT because the iPT can't connect to 3G data and doesn't have that hardware for the program to access.
