I read through the rules and didnt see anything against of what I am asking. If any of the admins think its innapropiate then I am sorry and delete this post.

I am just curious as to what people use to extract the content of a DS Cartridge and make it into a .nds Rom? Is there any hardware involved?

Again if it bothers anyone just delete this, I just thought I'd ask in the best place around.

That actually depends on copyright laws of a given country.

let me get my guide from antother site

Make sure your DS can connect to your local Wifi

Obtain latest wooddumper .nds
(latest revision is 72)

Download and Install Flash FXP

Download NTSDS

Copy Wooddumper to the Root of your Flashcard
then place into ure DS and Boot the Wood Dumper Rom

Once it's loaded you should see text on the bottom screen saying "Set a target card"

Take out the flashcard, insert the game you are going to backup and press A

now it will connect and return an IP address on screen
It will look something like this

card id: 0x1fc2
secure area ok
Connecting via WFC data ...
Connected
ip: 192.168.2.1
accept

now on your PC
run Flash FXP

click "site" , "site manager" , "new site"
name this site DS DUMP or anything you like
enter the ip address from the ds bottom screen
choose port 21 and tick anonymous
click apply and connect
wooddumpersite1.png

once you connect you should see the game in ds appear on the right
drag it over to a folder on your pc and wait for it to finish dumping
i would recommend using your desktop if on Vista or Windows 7
wooddumperconnected2.png

after the dumping is finished you can close FlashFXP
and navigate to your desktop where you dragged the file to

extract the NDSTS
and run it
browse to the rom and open it
this will now tell you information about your dump

the most likely problem is an Underdump where the head is not complete
your backup will still work tho
to complete and underdump simply re-drag the item and it will allow you to "Append" and will just grab the last few bytes
