Homebrew How do I tell if I've been banned from the eShop?

Been getting "Error Code: 005-4040" for almost 48 hours.

I don't own any copy of Sun and Moon, but I do have an xml used to extract saves for both versions.
I can still do Wonder Trade in Gen 6, and access Pokemon Bank and Miiverse.

Just means you can't access it, not banned. It might be down (I haven't checked) or there might be something wrong on your end, but it shouldn't be a ban.

You mean with the recommended DNS settings? If I did that, wouldn't I be unable to access anything else online?

Already said "I can still do Wonder Trade in Gen 6, and access Pokemon Bank and Miiverse."

Plus, I still get that pesky update notification every now and then on the home menu.
