Hello
I'd like to make a way to boot my computer from distance but I don't know how
I've heard in my programming class that it's possible through batch file, but we didnt receive the knowledge about how to do it yet :(
The problem, is that I host a Plex server on my desktop. I'm going to move of city soon to my mom's house and I'd like to boot my desktop from distance in case it turns off (exemple, black out).
I'd also like to be able to enter the password of my window user account when it gets into windows after BIOS (or maybe should I just remove the password?)
So, Do I need the IP? do I need a server/client inside my desktop to receive the signal?
How do I get my computer to boot on from distance?
I also heard it was possible to get the batch file auto-boot the computer from the router, but maybe I misunderstood :S

anyway, if youve got any idea, can you please share them with me?
thanks

I think you mean Wake-on-lan. There is also typically a setting in the BIOS/UEFI for power outages, whether you want to power back on after a power loss. Your issue is going to be not being part of your local network. Most people would use something like a VPN server running on their network to address that.

alright, maybe that setting for power outages reboot would be useful
But I might encounter another problem...
When it reboots, I need to enter a password on that page with random scenery, is there a way to skip that step and go straigth into my account?

alright, I found out how to make it boot when power goes back on

Now, I need to make it so that after booting, it goes into my session without having to go through that random scenery page where you enter the password of your account on the pc
how do I skip this step of booting?

If you remove the password from your account it would go straight to the desktop. At least it does in Windows 7. I imagine Windows 10 would work similar. In windows 7 Control Panel\User Accounts and Family Safety\User Accounts is where you could remove the password.

You are still going to have an issue reaching your local machine externally though as you have no direct connection to it.

ok, so I've tryed to change my microsoft account login to a local account with no password, but I get a error message, saying they couldn't replace my account to a local one. I get the error code 0x80004005 ...
