I got the Golden Axe Classics apk and unpacked it with linux, but cant find the rom anywhere.

And yes, i know this is my 3rd forum post in a row about rom extraction.

UPDATE: I scanned through the unpacked files with retroarch, and it got nothing. This may mean that the ROMs are embedded somewhere, or that they don’t have a Genesis file extension

Have you checked elsewhere like Android/ on your device?

APKs don't always contain the complete software.

If you can't find anything you'd expect in the ROM header like "SEGA", "GOLDEN" or "AXE" when you open the apk in a hex editor, that suggests it's either found elsewhere or it's encrypted/compressed.

I don’t have an android, i used a tool to download the apk file from the google play store. I’ll try your hex editor idea tho

you used a TOOL to download from the play store.
This already might be your problem. So many malware files in 3rd party apk downloaders i would stay clear unless you know what your doing.
Why not just get a clean rom from Goooooogggle search?

i have like
linux
Also i don’t pirate

Well its very likely that SEGA (or whomever made that for them) packed the ROM inside another file and encrypted to avoid situations like this.

The file is most likely decrypted at runtime.
I wish i knew how to code so i could just make something (in this case, a sega forever file decryptor) when i wanted it

Pretty sure this counts as piracy.

Or, since you claim you have bought the game, just download a the ROM online. That is not "piracy" since you already paid for it.
Yes, it is.

IF he paid for the game, NO its is not.
That's a myth. Owning a game doesn't give you the right to download an illegal copy of said game, or pretty much any right other than the right to play your copy of the game. Thanks to the DMCA you aren't even allowed to make your own personal use copy/backup these days.

Except in the EU you are entitled to backup your , rightfully purchased software and media. As long you don't distribute those copies.
So basically yeah if you bought the software you can have copies. Dmca can go fuck itself .

Yes, but you still can't download copies that others have made. That right only applies to a personal backup.
