I've recently extracted a few Wii games, to see what I can edit, and found a lot of TMP files. I mean, everything is in the TMP format! The Message files, the models, sounds, everything!
Can I edit these files somehow? If so, how? I mainly want to modify the Message files. I've opened one in Gedit, and between a lot of garbled text, and invalid characters, I found some eligible English, so they must be editable somehow.
...right?

TMP is not a file format, but only a file extension. So rename it to the original extension and click it.

For text files, use any good text editor and use the editors internal open command.

But I get errors, and invalid characters.
Could they be MSBT files? Or are those only used on 3DS and Wii U games?

Okay, so renaming it to _MESSAGE.msbt didsn't work, as it wasn't recognised as a valid msbt file by MSBT Editor Reloaded.
Opening it in a Hex Editor produced these results:

It's a Yaz0 compressed file containing BMG Files (what actually holds message data) - try "wszst xx FILENAME -vv" on it (install Wiimm's SZS Tools at szs.wiimm.de - I also suggest getting the Image Tools if you ever want to work with the images themselves at wit.wiimm.de) and then you'll get BMG files which you can decode with wbmgt (read documentation at szs tools' site)

I've got the tools, but I can't see anything in it named wszst, nor does this command work in the Terminal.

Did you install them? wszst is a tool in szs tools (check the bin folder),.

I don't have a wii u anymore to test it myself, but if homebrews are not visible on the wii u menu I think you can press L + R + minus to open the plugin menu, there should be an option called "homebrews on wii u menu" or something similar

  • BigOnYa @ BigOnYa:
Or when your player dies, you can say in code, if enemy exists, do nothing, but if enemy does not exist, then create enemy at certain spot. (This would be a pain tho for lots of emeies)

Easiest, simple way would be just restart scene, but player would restart from beginning.
