Is there any way to open the ARC-files that are found on the Wii ISOs?

As I have understood, the ARC-files may contain many different file formates like 3D objets, plain text and maybe other stuff to. I have asked google but it didn't know any way to extract or save files into ARC-files. It would be really funny to make the characters in different games to say funny stuff, make a pink and yellow Mario (very ugly thou) or symbols like the stars in SMG into something else and so on...

Some people may also think it would be funny to translate a game?

PS. ARC is also a old compressing format like zip and rar. DS.

Ipod Games also contain arc files, Surprising(At least Phase does)

EDIT:
Correction I made a mistake sadly, iPog Games(Atleast PHASE) use ARK files
I know it's the file container tough because of all the readable files names inside and the size

It is used in one form or another in gamecube and DS files. I suggest you start with the gamecube methods and go from there:

Chances are you will end up having to do it all with a hex editor but it is not that bad.

Manage to find SZSTools 1.0 through the first page you linked to. I have successfully extract the files from the ARC-archive, changed the some data in one of the files, but not yet successfully reencoded the files into an ARC-archive to put back in the ISO.

QUOTE(ProdigySim @ Mar 4 2008, 04:01 AM) Someone just posted this today:

http://www.file-upload.net/download-704299/arcman.zip.html

It's an alpha release of an .arc file manager. Works on .arcs, not on .pacs with arc header.

Right now it just lists arc contents, but the guy is going to release a decompressing/extracting version soon.

Thanks, but it could not read the *.arc-files that I have tested from SMG. Would be great if you could tell me when future updates is available.

There are 2 types of arc files
if you open it in a text editor
you can see the header
those with yaz0 & rarc can be opened with the szstool above
(I also want to know how to make a RARC file)
another arc format can be pack/unpack with DarchD in the dolphin SDK

Found any way to make a RARC-file yet? I have not. I will tell you if I do.

ProdigySim: Arcman still not working with files from SMG (Super Mario Galaxy). Do you know if there are any plans to make it work the SMG arc-files and such?

Sorry for posting in an old thread.. but I think that's better than making a new one.
Well, I'm looking for a tool that can extract .arc files from Wind Waker (GCN). But all tools featured here (as long as the links are not dead) cannot open them. Does anyone know a working one?
