Hi !

I'm new on this forum (and i don't speak english very well). So, i want to translate a game. I have extracted files from .cia with HackingToolkit9DS. I founded all the file with text, but when i open a .bin with a text editor, it show me a big mess, without text and some weird caracters. How can I do to convert this file ? Thank you for your help :)

.bin is a common extension used in thousands of wildly differing file formats across computing. As such it is not a terribly useful thing, especially if we don't know the game name.

If you open a file like that with a text editor then chances are the text editor will skip things it does not understand, that way even if they did have some known text in there it would probably still break it.

People that modify game text have a variety of different methods and tools to use. Some will make their own tool to handle it, others will use quite complex programmable tools and others will do a lot in their head to make simpler tools work for them.

I have a guide for the GBA and DS https://gbatemp.net/threads/gbatemp-rom-hacking-documentation-project-new-2016-edition-out.73394/ but it should also apply to the 3ds, especially as you already figured out how to get files out of the ROMs. There are some French language guides out there as well but I don't have links right now.

Thank you for your response ! I have checked your guide, I don't have time to read it right now (I'm at work) but it seems really interesting. I will start with this, thank you. By the way, the game that I want to translate is named "Brunch Panic". This game is very unpopular (so sad) but very cool.
