So I was trying to hack vWii following this video guide:
Around 3:10 I'm told to open something called BlueDump
Instead of following the instructions carefully I got ahead of myself and selected "Back up savedata" instead of "Back up to wad"

It's been "Backing up savedata" for 20 minutes now...
Did I screw up?

If it's STILL like that, it's nothing that will cause permanent damage if you just pull the plug. That video is kinda using the long way, though. I'd personally recommend following the guides from one of the threads here in the stickies of this forum ... but this way works, too.

Most of the steps are unnecessary but I wanted a video tutorial instead of a written one...
I'll be joining the MW3 community soon btw :D

I'm very careful on using any kind of homebrew on vWii to prevent stuff like this. All I did was install the HBC (using Tales of Symphonia) and installed whatever the newest version of d2x was at the time. I refuse to install any other kinds of wads besides forwarders because you cannot unbrick the vWii. Never even heard of BlueDump before.

I tried a few versions of blue dump to get some .ios people said to check out but it always froze/crashed.
