well i stumbled upon this by accident and i've discovered how you can hotlink mediafire links so that you
don't need to view the mediafire website before you can download
(i guess if you own a website you can use mediafire as a filehost without using your own webhost to store files)

1. on a mediafire download link right click on the "click here to download file" and copy link address
2. when someone visits the copied link they can directly download that file without needing to go to the medafire website.

intresting

imgur SUCKS big time.
It converts -EVERYTHING- to JPEG even if it causes the filesize to become BIGGER.
So good luck with images that need detail or have text (JPEG+Text = horrible).
Imageshack or Photobucket are FAR better.
Hell... I had a list of image hosts and imgur was one of the lowest.

I use tinypic for image uploading.

And MediaFire usually gives me 350kb/s which is my max DL speed anyway, so idk what prwlr is talking about.

I think Mediafire change it's link every 24hrs so I don't direct linking to files such as zip files will not work.

...what? No it doesn't.

They apparently convert overly large images, but they don't convert everything.

What a well thought out and argued counterpoint.
Clearly you're right and I'm wrong.

I guess now it supports PNGs as well, however it still compresses the shit out of them.

MediaFire is definitely my favourite file host, I get 600-800kb/s on it.

Same here. I used to use Tinypic for my image uploads, but I hate their capacha, so I use imgur.

As long as you have Adblock, I really do have to recommend MegaUpload over MediaFire. Still a 25 second wait to download a file, yeah, but I can get upwards of 4MB/s, and I've downloaded somewhere between 8 and 10 gigs in one day without hitting an upper limit. Plus, 1GB max file size vs 200MB.

MediaFire will give me about 600KB/s DL speed (800KB/s on a goo day) and MegaUpload will max out my DL speed at 2MB/s every single time. I don't mind waiting for files if they're going to download fast but I still like MediaFire for no time limit, good speeds, & now hotlinking!

For images I prefer TinyPic but I've never used imgur. I don't mind their captcha, they're not eye strainer's like Google's for Gmail.

I've noticed that some Megaupload servers let me download at ridiculous speeds at excess of 1.5 Megabytes per second, which is my internet cap so theoretically it could be even faster.
Mediafire is a constant 250-300 KB/s, which just doesn't compare. Either way, I'm pissed because all my scene sites use Fileserve and Filesonic, which suck (almost as bad as Rapidshare).

As for the pop-up ads on Megaupload, just middle click the download button, and voila.

I think the best file sharing sites are 1.Megaupload-Fileserve tied for first, 2.then mediafire and 3.everything else.
Not sure why you hate fileserve I get speeds of upto 1MB/s which competes with the speeds I get for megaupload.
