Hacking Hotel Dusk and rumble

I have the ez 3in1 with rudolphs gbaexploader tool, and whenever I enable rumble for Hotel Dusk, in the game the edges of the screen flash. Has this always been a problem, or does anyone know how to fix it? Would patching the ROM help? By the way, my slot 1 card is an m3 simply.
