If the stage is limited to use with the gateway, I do not call it a homebrew scene, the goal was getting rid of the gateway limitation and I think it is in this sense that we must go. .. otherwise the scene will die as soon as the gateway

In any case, there is an urgent need to resolve the situation, because if the use of homebrew is limited to 4.5 + Gateway, you can bury the scene now ...

The output of the 3DS does not date from yesterday, there may very user version 4.5, the more time passes, the less there will be user ...

i doubt many people would be rushing out to get a 4.x console for just homebrew.....as great as it is, the average user wouldn't be too bothered, and anyone who thinks they want homebrew probably already has one.....not to mention if its just homebrew you want smea has already demonstrated he can run homebrew in 6.x and confirmed it works in 7.1 and probably 7.2

the only advantage homebrew has in 4.x is that they could probably make a rom loader......which i wouldn't even consider as homebrew....at which point people just want to pirate

Of course, we just need someone with knowledge at assembly, C, C++ and Hardware to find a exploit in a system that is probably well protected (i hope so :P ). I don't think much of us are capable of doing that and even if yes they probably are afraid or not interested.

In my case, I waited impatiently for the homebrew stage, I was in version 4.5, my son accidentally shift in 6.2, bah it's over for me the homebrew scene just before the first real homebrew ... I'm not going buy a new 3DS, it is too expensive ... hack the 3DS does not make much sense especially when you see the quality of games coming out, it's just a 3DS a DS Lite with a 3D button above written. The games are the same as the DS Lite, the 3DS is a big scam in the end ...

well wait on 6.2, smealum has already shown he has a working exploit for 6.x, if you really want homebrew wait there.....although he has said the exploit is useless for rom loaders, but to be honest smealums has shown a lot over the past months still no exploits released........but you know if you want homebrew that bad im sure you can wait on 6.x a little longer :P

All hope is not lost though. Just wait a while, gateway has surprised before ...

I think it's mainly that people want to spend less money. in the past, the home brew scene required flash carts or mod chips, and nobody complained because this is just how things were. but with the advent of software exploits and custom firmwares, the people decided that this is how it should be for all systems. I'll be the first to admit that I'm a cheap ass. I would rather wait around for smea to release ssspwn than pay $80 for a flashcart.

At any rate, does anybody remember off the top of their heads where the launcher.dat payload gets put in memory when using gateway's loader? 75 pages of posts are a little annoying to dig through when half of them are piracy debates and another other 1/4 are people complaining about the scene still being limited to <=4.5 with what's publicly available.

The Launcher.dat file gets loaded at 0x2B0000 (virtual) in the settings applications allocated memory (the ROP chain). The first part of the ARM9 payload gets loaded to 0x080C3EE0 (physical), which is in the ARM9 internal memory.

I really hope that whenever smeas exploit does make its way into the wild it will allow loading of the .3ds homebrew people have started making.

I'm guessing it won't? After all of .3ds files can be loaded, .3ds roms can be too.

They both use the CTRU-lib so source code should be cross compatible, and just need to be compiled, but who knows what Smea's next CTRU-lib release brings. Gateway homebrew is also Usermode only.

Hi, here is source code for space invaders emu -.3ds format-. If anyone wants to compile it will need the roms converted to .h, I've deleted all copyrighted files from the rar.

It has correct colors and good speed :)

And this one is the source of gameboy emulator Giibii, Its slow and doesnt even have controls support. But it may be useful for someone.

is it just me or is the gb emulator non functional? It compiles perfectly, but it does not work using gateway (at least its not working here... and all of the 3 emus are crashing with it)

yes, i know that - but it does not work at all here. its not slow - its non functional :o Anyway - I ll look into the code and try to fix it a bit

Which game have you tried? it only works with =< 256kb and no color games.

i thought it was only for launcher.dat homebrew

Is an emulator code problem: I broke color compatibility to get it working (When I did the launcher.dat port), and I havent fixed it already. Same to 512ks or more games.
