Hello,

I followed this excellent guide to get everything working on my vWii, but every time I try to launch Homebrew Browser, it crashes with a DSI and a stack dump. My impression is that this should be working on vWii—any ideas?

I only have my SD card inserted into my Wii U (no USB)—is that the problem? FWIW, other apps are working fine (e.g. emulators and USB Loader GX).

On a side note, this forum is incredible.

A) does your vWii have an internet connection?
B) are you holding "B" on the Wii Remote on startup?

A) Yes, I'm confident it does since it downloads and extracts the image files... it crashes immediately after that.
B) No, I let the download finish.

Are you using an original Wiimote? Is it one with a built in Motion Plus?
I read that older homebrew doesn't support the new Wiimotes unless they are updated.
And I've had first hand experience with crashes caused by 3rd party controllers.

I'm using an original, first-party Wiimote that came with my Wii, but thank you for the suggestion!

That did the trick! Thank you. A donation is coming your way.

Looking at the diff, I understand setting_disusb="1", but what does setting_server="1" do?

I set it to use the secondary server, and (in case you ever get a USB drive for the Wii U) disabled USB mounting.

Thank you so much for the donation. That will help get HacksDen back up, which hosts all the guides and homebrew I've written.

I have tried to let the homebrew browser update itself from its start screen, been t it gives an error wth the expected size of the file and will not download it. Will setting the
setting_check_size to "0" allow it to download? Or is that safe???
Sorry for the questions but I am new to this scene an donly yesterday manfed to softmod my Wii....

I think i may be getting the same error, as I am browsing HBB it will randomly crash. (i've included a screen shot of the error message i get)

i have changed the "settings.xml" file as suggested above... we'll see what happens.
