Everyone complaining about "off topic" trail offs must not have been around for every other firmware update thread.. They ALL turn into a general troubleshooting thread. If it's that serious mods need to lock the threads for replies and only allow the OP to update the list of what works and what doesn't. The hell is the point of 15 pages of people asking the same questions or talking about personal property taxes? Lol

Backups are great for in case you mess your NAND up. I wouldn't keep one for every system version though. Just one is fine in case you mess your NAND up. Then again, I've got 3DNUS archives going all the way back to 9.0 (and I've also got 4.5). I can switch to any version using SysUpdater (I can even go retail with any version thanks to d0k3's script that pulls the NF from CTRNAND and copies it to the firm partitions).

OK. Well, I just checked them to make sure. They seem to run just fine. Now all that's left is to see if GW works with the new friends version installed (though it probably does).
I got nand backups and full SD card backups from 4.3, 11.3, 11.4, 11.5 and now 11.6 :P

NTRBoot can't be blocked through OFW updates as it's a bootrom exploit. The only way for Nintendo to patch it, is with completely new hardware.

Your lack of sleep is showing. :P

Does BootNTR work with 11.6? I use that for cheats, no longer use Gateway...

It should work fine, as neither FIRM (the kernel, basically) nor the Home Menu were updated. If either of those two get updated, NTR "CFW" typically breaks.

What about the r4i?

When you invoke/boot ntrboot, you're not subject to any blacklisting/whitelisting the 3DS usually does, so if your r4i is compatible with ntrboot in general, it'll always work unless Nintendo comes out with a new hardware revision. That said, they could still block it from functioning as a DS flashcart while you're inside the 3DS OS or TWL_FIRM (DS mode), though, but ntrboot is neither of those things, it's its own environment with its own set of rules.

I just have one question, anyone know if the R4i was blacklisted on OFW 11.6? I find that the only way Nintendo can attempt to stop CFW installs from stock.

Well they need to eventually update Gateway for Ultra Sun and Moon.
They haven't updated Gateway since 11.2, so no they don't. I wouldn't expect them to either. The "update" you speak of is the new "star" card. So yes, but you'll have to buy Gateway all over again. Your choice.

They can never patch ntrboot because the exploit is there before the whitelist is loaded

But you know I have a retai card from Pokémon Moon. Is it possible to update after the downgrade process?
