Taihenkaku is the new version of Henkaku, but it is still in beta. Emulator support is the same: With both you can load homebrew.
Taihenkaku has as avantage that you can install plug-ins that can modify the system behaviour. One of them is adrenaline, that allows you to run a PSP custom firmware.

    Google SwitchKaku for Vita....

Sooner or later, taihenkaku will replace henkaku completely.

Taihenkaku is recommended over henlaku at this point. Use it.

Another benefit of taihen is the fact that it is more reliable to boot then henkaku now.

Does taihen require you to launch the browser with the exploit site like normal hen does?

They can both be run through the browser or you can use the switchkaku to install either to the offline email exploit
