Homebrew Help

I am not asking anyone to help me program or design anything, All I need is a place to Learn how to do it. I need some more help Programming as in how to insert videos and images. Also How do I get it to a .nds file that works on a ds and Emulators because once im done coding it I look for a compile button on the programmers notepad but there isnt one there. Do I just save it as .nds then use palib and Devkitpro?
If There is a better programming Tool Can U Plz tell Me?
