Hacking Help with PsFreedom

I need help because my ps3's laser got burnt 7 months ago(at least i think it might of got burnt) so i cant use Psfreedom.
Psfreedom requires you to put a original ps3 game for a back up to start.
My ps3 can't detect ANY discs so i can't use Psfreedom/PsJailbreak.
I was planning maybe buying a Ps3hub,but it hasn't been confirmed working yet.
What should i do?

Get it's laser repaired? Is it still under warranty?

unfortunately the warranty expired 2 years ago and i feel the laser is a a little complicated to change the laser
(also laser is way to expensive)

Use the payload by hermes, which does not require you to have a disc inside. Although, game compatibility suffers, so some won't work.

I'm using a G1 port
