i recently got gateway and now cant access eshop. I need to use eshop cause i recenly used rom dumping to get a header off my game and when i try to go online pokemon y with the rom off gateway it doesnt let me and comes up with error 002-0120. It also says it wants me to update the game off ushop before playing online any help is greatly appreciated.

What 3ds are you on? o3ds/2ds or n3ds? If you are on o3ds/2ds try creating a new emuNand and update it to access eshop and download the update for pkmn Y.
If you are on N3ds, you can only update emuNAND to 9.5, so go and find an update .cia file for pkmn Y and install it on emuNAND. You could do that on o3ds too, if you want.

I have new 3ds xl however my gateway black screens after going inot nintendo ds profile however i am still on version 9.0 for my 3ds so not sure why

Sometimes (about 10% of the time) the exploit won't work and you have to hold the power button to turn the 3DS off, just try again.
It could also be possible that you accidentally deleted the launcher.dat or you formatted the card. Since it black screens the exploit still works, but it doesn't run the launcher.dat correctly.
You'll have to find a CIA version of the update, as you can't update emuNAND to the latest on n3DS. Unless you have Cubic Ninja, in which case you can run PastaCFW or NTR-CFW and use the eShop spoofer to access eShop without updating. Those both run on sysNAND though, so you'll need to play the game on sysNAND when you want to play online, or format emuNAND again after downloading the update (but back up the contents of the MicroSD card in the 3DS first!) which will make the update work on emuNAND as well.

well iv tried opening nintendo ds profile at least 20 times now and every time it goes to the dragon then black screen

You updated emuNAND didn't you? If updated, emuNAND will black screen on the n3DS. You'll have to format emuNAND again (back up your SD card first)

also my emunand is on 9.0 is there a way to update this to 9.5 which i have heard is the highest it can go. right now it says gw3d 9.0.0-20E

Do a google search for them, and you'll find'm


Download 3DNUS
Put 9.5.0-23 for the title id - USA / EUR / JPN for your respective ds
Check N3ds
Download then place the folder onto the internal mSD
Google: BigBlueMenu.3DS-BigBlueBox
Place BBM or Devmenu .3ds onto gateway mSD
Open DevMenu or BBM
Move to the left once on D-pad to SDMC
Install all the cia files located in the patch folder.
Restart your ds to emunand and you'll be on 9.5 emu.

*Once everything is installed, you can delete the update folder / cias from your mSD using either BBM / DevMenu or computer*

There's no real advantage to updating, but you can use a ROM (hold D-pad Up while entering GW mode to enable updates)

Games come with firmware updates in them. You should probably do a lot more reading and research before starting if you didn't know that.

Firmware Update == updating 3ds

Just follow this:

Do a google search for them, and you'll find'm


Download 3DNUS
Put 9.5.0-23 for the title id - USA / EUR / JPN for your respective ds

Games. Come. With. Firmware. Updates.

If a game requires a certain firmware to run it will come with that firmware and ask you to update your 3ds when you try to play it, if your 3DS' firmware is lower. This feature is for people who never connect to the Internet. Otherwise when they bought their 3DS they would only be able to play old games, no new releases.
