So i recently bought some component cables for my wii, and plugged them into the back of my TV. All the plugs were there, so i assumed it would work.

but as soon as i went to the settings and set it to 480p, this happened

whats going on?

is there something wrong with my TV? does it not support progressive scan? why does it have the blue/green/red plugs if it doesn't, what would be the point of them?

my TV is a Sony Trinitron model number KV-32FS100

The point of component is a sharper and more vibrant picture. It isn't just support of 480I/P, 720I/P and 1080I/P.

Set your Wii back to 480I as it looks like your TV does not support 480P.

Even at 480I you should notice colors are more accurate and text is now sharper. I notice it right away on everything compared to RF, composite and S-Video.

Your tv does not support progressive scan, the component in will be a slight improvement
from composite or S-video, but the picture will remain 480i
