Hacking (Help) update vor wait for hack?

I have a ps4 on 4.55 ofw.
Is it possible that a jailbreak comes out for it? Or should i update to play online ( i have PS+)?

I highly doubt you'll see a hack released any time soon.

there is a modchip that allows for sharing games infinitely, but that was patched on 4.73 (the latest) I believe. I'm not sure if the hack for 4.06 works on that firmware either. I think it does though since the hack was only going to be released if it were patched.

Personally, I always wait a week or so after a new firmware, then update: that way, in the unlikely case that someone divulges his now fixed exploit, I'm covered.

Other than that, I, as someone completely uneducated on the matter, have the impression that the people who have found exploits are not going to release them anytime soon, while the ones who claim they are definitely, eventually going to are just saying so for publicity.

personally, I wouldn't update despite the fact that most hacks happen on the current firmware at the time. I'm staying on 4.07 for now. if I want to play a game, I can often times buy it on steam.

So true, the rule of "dont speak about it, be about it" is long overdue for the PS4 "scene" and the tools that crave likes in it. As I said in my other thread this run will play out just like the Wii U did with the exploit getting its grand reveal toward the end of the platforms lifecycle (and on the latest firmware to boot!) as I feel the days of consoles being hacked "on the ground" as it were (ie realtime as the firmware comes out without nothing held back for social media epeening) are long gone as egos are at the forefront now and the days of a shadowy hacker flitting around in the background facilitating the access that our huge pool of talented devs code for are tales of the past.

Simply look how the various "scenes" have declined since say the OG Xbox onwards and there's your answer. Darn shame as the platforms themselves are more capable than they've ever been and could've produced something amazing...

If you dont use PSN or Online multiplayer at all then just sit on your current FW. If you do need to use online then update. It all depends on you and what type of user you are.

If a new game comes out,most likely you will have to update your firmware to be able to play it.

what does it matter how others use their systems? I own a limited edition dragon quest metal slime ps4. I bought it for over $500 (used) a while back, so it's not something I can just replace. the new ones go for about $800. I'm being extra cautious with the system.

ok a kernel exists for FW up to 4.55....but if it releases...and you cant have cfw with it. it is senseless for me then i am updating...if Kingdom Hearts 3 releases before cfw or that exploit....i have to update
