So recently I've been working on some Vita themes. They work pretty well, aside from the most recent.

After playing some Adrenaline games my Vita crashed. Upon reboot, it refuses to load the livearea, simply showing the notifications bubble, the black bar at the top, and a completely black box with a loading screen for everything else. The vita works fine, it'll play the theme music, it'll respond to button presses, and I can even access the power menu to turn it off. The only fix is to rebuild the database, at which point it resets to a theme with no music, a black background for every background after the first (which shows the blue waves), and the icons from my theme. I'm really stumped as to what has happened here. If it's a corrupted theme, I've reinstalled it several times and deleted the row from the database using the custom themes manager, but nothing has worked. Google has been no help either. Does anyone have any advice?

Thanks.

let me get this right. your vita is fine but your having problems with your custom theme you created right?

Basically. Let me start over, I struggle to explain some things haha.

I've created themes in the past that work fine. Typically I use a template, swapping out my images and audio.

After creating this most recent theme it worked fine for a while, until an Adrenaline issue crashed the Vita. From that point onwards it's been behaving oddly. When I apply the theme and restart my Vita, the livearea refuses to load. It keeps all the features like the black bar along the top and the notification blue circle, but the bubble area is black with a loading icon. It'll even play the theme music.

The Vita is completely responsive during this and I simply shut it down as normal and rebuild the database to restore it. But here's where more weird things happen. The Vita tells me it's on the default theme, but only the first slide of the livearea has the blue wave background. The rest are black, and all the default theme icons are replaced with the theme that is having problems, and there is no music. I have to apply another theme, and then reapply the default theme to fix this.

Everytime I reapply my custom theme and restart the console this happens. I've tried reinstalling it and removing the row from the database using the custom themes manager, but it refuses to work.

i dont want to put you off. but in the past, people stay away from themes. unless you really know what you are doing.

because themes on other system too seem to crash or brick consoles. its just a theme in hacked consoles and custom themes scene.

hopefully somebody with more knowledge will help you, because this is out of my scope.

but saying isnt they like a tutorial which gives you a guide on what do and what formats and what sizes to use tho?

edit: maybe this will help https://gbatemp.net/threads/custom-themes-3-60-henkaku.436267/

Oh you're completely right yeah, I did look at a thread and I know that I've done it right because my last theme worked perfectly and I've copied the same stuff for this one. I'm just confused as to what it doesn't like about this theme after the crash. It could very well be that it's corrupted but I don't want to have to manually edit a file to fix it if the manager can't remove it from the database in case of bricks as you said. Maybe I should just stick to my old themes for now. Thanks for the help regardless!
