Hold down the power button until the screen turns black

Turn it off and on again. Put your SD card out after it turned off though or you will boot into a black screen

A classic case of not reading the guide? It even say in there if you get stuck just to shut the console off and try again.

Not only that but shutting off the console is the #1 thing to try if a system doesn't work. (I know that's not entirely true in 3ds hacking but still)
