Hello guys. I'm not a PSP owner but recently, my Dad bought my sis a PSP slim. She's not very tech-savvy and don't know anything about PSP slim so I'm here seeking for help from all you PSP slim owners.

Basically it's a slim model. It comes with the charger, TV out cable, and a cable that link the PSP slim to the computer. Firmware version is 3.80. Its not running any UMC or what UDC thing (the disc behind PSP slim) and there's a 4GIG memory card with games from the store my Dad bought the PSP slimfrom. So I can just on the PSP slim and just play.

How do you put games in? I mess around with it. I connect the PSP slim to the computer and I turn on my PSP and go to USB connection. Am I doing the right thing? I just need to download the game and put inside the folder?

What I want to know is I read about some 3.9m33 firmware? I don't know which firmware is the best. I know it matters because from what I know, certain games cant run under certain firmware. Correct me if I'm wrong. And please direct me to a good firmware.

There's no other community out there like GBAtemp so I don't know where to get started.. Sorry for being such a newb. I sincerely thank you guys in advance for any help you can provide me.

Since it's a slim you're going to have to get a Pandora's Battery and Magic Memory stick to downgrade it. You can make your own if you have a friend with a psp that has CFW or hardmod your own (tutorials on here), or you could buy both. DealExtreme are selling them for cheap.
Once you downgrade just get the latest CFW, atm that's the 3.90 M33

ACTUALLY... the latest firmware is 3.95GEN.
However, if you check your PSP firmware under system settings and it's exactly "3.80", this means it hasn't been hacked yet, and you can do so through pandora's battery. You need a previously hacked PSP to make a pandora battery, so I recommend you simply return to the store that sold you the memory stick and have them hack your PSP for you.

Oh, then all you do is connect the PSP to your computer and go into USB mode. Once there, the memory stick contents should show up on your computer. Look under the ISO folder which should be on the root. This is where all your "backups" are stored. If you want to add new games, this is where they would go.

Ok. I tested it. It bring me to a M33 Recovery. I double-checked the firmware. It's 3.80 M33 something.

connect via USB. on the root of your memory stick should be a folder called ISO. open that up and your games are in there. drag ISO files from your computer to that folder to play them on your PSP, you'll find them on your PSP under game/memory.

So that's it? Wow. It's simpler than I thought. Alright. I googled around and I found out that there's 3.90m33 firmware. What's the use of upgrading firmware? And How should I do about upgrading from 3.80m33 to 3.90m33?

Only reason to upgrade is for Skype features or Popsloader compatibility. I think in 3.80 DAX already implemented his wireless updating? Mabye, mabye not. Try going all the way left then all the way up. This should bring you to the network update icon. Try it. If it results in an error, simply go to DAX's website and grab the latest firmware. The instructions are inside.

Also, for updating, you can go to the recovery mode and turn on the update to go through DarkAleX's network, that way you can do it all without the comp if need be or need to upgrade while you're away (or your sis). 3.90 m33-3 is the latest DAX, not the latest CFW release. Even DAX states that on the PSP wiki, he just recommends staying at 3.90 since nothing really big has happened in updates other than skype for the slims. Also stating that the other CFW may be incompatible with some current plugins and also be buggy all by themselves.
