Hey guys,

I'm in a pickle, I want to buy a cheap AGP graphic card that gives me the most bang for my buck. I have around $AU300 to spend so I need some recommendations.

My computer:

P4 2.6Ghz (overclocked to around 2.8)
Old Asus motherboard (AGP slots, IDE harddrives etc)
1GB DDR ram
Radeon 9800XT

The graphics card isn't really cutting it anymore. I want something with shader 3.0 support so I can play Unreal Tournament 3 when it comes out. Also stuff like BF2142/Oblivion runs a little slowly on my current setup.

So yeah I don't have the money to spend to upgrade my whole computer to PCI or whatever so it needs to be a cheap AGP graphics card. What would you guys recommend? I've been looking at these ones:

eVGA GEFORCE 7800GS CO 256MB DDR3 AGP8X
HIS ATi Radeon X1950Pro 512M DDR3 HDTV/Dual DVI 8xAGP
HIS ATi Radeon X1650Pro 512M IceQ DDR2 HDTV/Dual DVI 8xAGP
XFX GeForce 7600GS 512MB DDR2 8xAGP

Thanks for the help

I can play Half-Life 2: Episode One reasonably but there's no hope for some of the newer games. I found the X1950Pro 512M here form $AU318, it seems like a good buy. Some reviews of it show great performance over the others.

I'm not sure if my power supply can handle the X1950 Pro. the Pro uses a 6 pin connector and my power supply uses 4 pins. I was told I can get a power splitter cable and make it work with two 4 pin cables which is fair enough. But I'm not sure the power supply has enough power to run it.

the x1950 ddr3 will be your best bet!
ddr3 is so much faster than ddr2 and can give a world of difference but if i were you i would just get a new motherboard...AGP just doesnt cut it anymore
