Its me again. I encountered a really strange problem today with my laptop. For some reason, my ALT keys dont work (or they work as if they were CTRL), and im getting some sounds whenever i press NUMLOCK or caps.

Could anyone please help me? I have no idea what to do!

Edit : I was able to disable the weird sounds from numlock / capslock.

Sounds like some settings in the BIOS got messed up.
Either that or your Windows Registry is funky.

Download this, burn it to a CD (or use something like LiLi or Unetbootin to make a bootable USB drive) and tell us if the problem still persists after booting from it.

So far I've tried rebooting several times, system restore, SharpKeys.. None have worked.

Fishaman, whats the program supposed to do? also can i just mount it?

Edit : What makes it really weird is that neither ALT or AltGr work. Everything else is working just fine. I also dont quite get it how this happened. I didnt change any settings anywhere, nor did I do anything unusual..

Could be a hardware failure. Try plugging in a usb keyboard and see if you have the same issues

@Hielkenator that did absolutely nothing :(

I'm using a Acer Aspire 5950G model, bought it only about 6 months ago. Worked flawlessly until now.

Mods can now lock this thread if they want so! The problem has been fixed! Interesting turn of events. I tried my friends USB-keyboard today, and alt-tabbing worked with it, so we thought that my keyboard is probably screwed then. I unplugged the USB-keyboard, and just tried alt-tabbing with my laptop's keyboard, and it worked! We have no idea how it happened, but it is fixed & all is good!

Thanks for the input tempers ;)

Also, if you want to discuss about what happened, please feel free to do so!
