As the title and description say, I have official system 4.0U, when I then installed BootMii and the Homebrew channel by way of the bannerbomb exploit. I'm now trying to install some WADs. I have the Wad Manager 1.4 on my SD card and can run it through HBC but always get error -2011 when trying to install wads, no matter what IOS I try (granted I haven't tried them all yet).

I have no patched any of my IOS at all, so I'm not sure where to go from here.

Any suggestions or help? I've searched around the net and have found only halfway completed tutorials and forum threads, many of which offer solutions I'm not interested in doing (downgrading to 3.2, for instance).

Thanks in advance.

I am going to laugh right now, I can install WADs fine on my Wii 4.0U! How? Did you install cIOS before updating to 4.0U? If not, there's your answer, force a downgrade. I don't remember the thread, though.

How do I "Force" a downgrade?

read threads on this forum on wadmanager and 4.0, lots on them

it's possible, no need to wait for an update or whatnot.

Posts merged

for example.. if u see the wii hacking forum.. you will see lots of threads like this: http://gbatemp.net/index.php?showtopic=144835
search and ye shall find

OK, so since I never installed any cIOS or any hacked IOS files, and I'm on a legit 4.0U, as of right now there is no way for me to install WADs without downgrading to 3.2.

Is that correct?

Either way, I would have to downgrade.

I don't want to deal with that process, so I will wait until a Wad manager compatible with 4.0 is released. I'm patient.

You don't have to downgrade your System Menu

Do not try this if you have one of the new LU64 Wiis!

Download this pack

Unrar the pack.

Rename "IOS35downgrade.dol" to "boot.dol" and copy it to your SD card under apps/DVDx

Rename "WadManager1.4.dol" to "boot.dol" and copy it to your SD card under apps/WADManager

Copy the "wad" folder to the root of your SD card

Put the SD card in your Wii, and start the Homebrew Channel..

Launch DVDx and choose "downgrade IOS35"

After that is done, exit back to the Homebrew Channel

Launch WADManager

Choose all the default settings and install "IOS35.wad"

Exit to the Homebrew Channel and and launch WADManager again.

When it asks you which IOS to use, choose IOS35

Install CIOSv7.wad

If you want, you can update to CIOS Rev 10:

Now you should be able to install wads on 4.0

in conclusion, you need some way into your wii, which is in the form of a modified IOS. Can't do it any other way, IOS's need to be modified from firmware 3.3v2 and up I believe

So you won't get it better than this, no reason to wait if u just use the method two posts above this
But please read all the 4.0 helper threads on this forum, there are heaps, and ask questions there if you have any

Perfect! That was quick, easy, and did the job just like I want. Thank you so much! I haven't been active much since the early modchip days, so the softmodding stuff is pretty new to me.

So, shall I install the Homebrew Channel and DVDX (on my Wii 4.0) via BannerBomb and BootMii? Then will there be a DVDX folder created on my SD Card or shall I just create one after than and put the boot.dol into that and nothing else should or has to be in that folder?

Following his instructions I put the file from the downloaded pack into a folder /apps/DVDx/boot.dol and loaded it from the Homebrew Channel. I did not download DVDx throught he homebrew channel when following his instructions. I had installed the HBC, Bootmii and DVDx through Bannerbomb before doing any of his outlined steps.
